The official press conference of the Chairperson and members of the Organizing Committee, the International Secretariat, and the author of the Games.

On July 24, 2025, an official press conference of the Organizing Committee of the VI World Nomad Games was held in Bishkek. During the meeting, the concept of the Games, the current progress of preparations, and the key areas of the program — sports, cultural, and scientific — were presented.

The press conference was attended by:

• Edil Baisalov — Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the Preparation and Conduct of the VI WNG;

• Mirbek Mambetaliev — Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Deputy Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the Preparation and Conduct of the VI WNG;

• Aibek Abdymomunov — Director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic;

• Bekbosun Borubashov — Chairperson of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic;

• Nursultan Adenov — Head of the International Secretariat of the World Nomad Games (Moderator);

• Askhat Akibaev — author of the "World Nomad Games" project, member of the Committee for the Preparation and Conduct of the VI WNG.

At the conclusion of the press conference, the participants outlined the key priorities for preparation, highlighted areas of international cooperation and the development of ethnosport, and also answered questions from media representatives.

The VI World Nomad Games: Kyrgyzstan to Host the Games in 2026

Following the V World Nomad Games, the Republic of Kazakhstan passed the baton of hosting the VI Games to the Kyrgyz Republic. At the initiative of the leadership of the Kyrgyz Republic, the World Nomad Games are scheduled to take place in September 2026.

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic is the organizer of the VI World Nomad Games. In accordance with Resolution No. 872-r of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic dated December 31, 2024, an Organizing Committee has been established to ensure the timely and high-quality preparation for the VI World Nomad Games in 2026.

The Organizing Committee includes heads of authorized state bodies, representatives of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the regions, mayors of cities of republican significance, heads of national companies and enterprises, as well as representatives of public organizations. The functions of the Secretariat of the VI World Nomad Games have been assigned to the Public Association “International Secretariat of the World Nomad Games.”

Upon the submission of the Secretariat, the Organizing Committee has approved the Regulations of the VI World Nomad Games — the main governing document of the Games, which provides detailed conditions for the participation of delegations from participating countries. The Regulations are sent to participating countries through the official diplomatic channels of the Kyrgyz Republic and serve as an official invitation to participate in the VI World Nomad Games.

Locations and Program: Bishkek and Issyk-Kul Region

In 2026, Kyrgyzstan will host the VI World Nomad Games. The opening and closing ceremonies will take place in Bishkek at a new stadium, while the competitions will be held in the Issyk-Kul Region — on the lakeshore and in the Kyrchyn Gorge. This was announced by Minister of Culture Mirbek Mambetaliev at a press conference.

“The Ministry of Culture is responsible for the cultural component of the event. As part of the Games, an ethno-village — the ‘Universe of Nomads’ — will be built, where guests can enjoy festivals of ethno-dance, ethno-hits, and ethno-fashion. Additional locations will be announced later,” he noted.

Sports Program: Preparation of National Teams and a New Competition Format

The State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports is responsible for the sports program. According to the Director of the Agency, Aibek Abdymomunov, the VI World Nomad Games will take place in September 2026.

“The Agency coordinates and implements the sports component of the Games. Competitions will be held in approved ethnosports disciplines. We will ensure the formation of national teams and conduct selection and training camps starting from 2025,” Abdymomunov stated.

He also emphasized that, in order to ensure objective and professional judging, a refereeing panel will be formed consisting of domestic specialists and invited international experts. For the first time, a new format — a club-based system — is planned to be introduced, aimed at increasing competitiveness and reducing the politicization of certain disciplines.

“The sports program is a key element of the Games. It requires a high level of responsibility, clear coordination, and thorough preparation. The financing of the sports program will be provided from the republican budget, with the possible involvement of extra-budgetary funds,” Abdymomunov added.
