The Caravan of Unity is not just a procession. It is a ceremonial journey that takes place before the opening of the World Nomad Games. It brings together regions and people and symbolizes respect for traditions and cultural continuity.
Since the foundation of the Games, water has been their sacred symbol. It is collected from the glaciers of Khan Tengri, one of the most sacred places in Central Asia. Water represents the beginning, movement, purity, and life. Before the Games begin, traditional vessels called köökör, filled with this water, are brought to the host country. There, the water from Khan Tengri is united with water from other regions, symbolizing unity and shared heritage.
Before the opening ceremony, special water collection ceremonies take place in Kyrgyzstan and in the country hosting the Games. After farewell ceremonies in central squares, the caravans travel to the venue of the World Nomad Games 2026. The caravan includes elders, athletes, artists, volunteers, elchiler, and official delegations. They carry not only vessels with water, but also cultural symbols such as yurts, musical instruments, national costumes, and traditional household items. Together, they create the future cultural space of the “Universe of Nomads.”
The climax is the Opening Ceremony. Messengers from all regions of the country bring water in traditional kookor vessels to the main stage. The waters are then united, symbolizing unity, respect for ancestors, and a shared vision for the future.
