8-13 September 2024
Astana, Kazakhstan
2800 delegates from 89 countries
21 ethnosport disciplines, 100+ cultural events, and a scientific conference
In 2024, the World Nomad Games were held for the first time in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.
These were the second Games held outside Kyrgyzstan, confirming their status as an international platform.
Astana organized the event at a high level, bringing together ethnosport, culture, and science. The project became a bridge for cultural dialogue and showed the relevance of nomadic heritage in the modern world.
21 disciplines, including traditional wrestling, horse competitions, archery, and intellectual games.
Women’s categories were introduced at the initiative of the participants.
The ethno-town “Universe of Nomads” presented more than 100 events: concerts, exhibitions, food areas, craft workshops, and aitys.
The international conference “Nomads: History, Knowledge, Lessons” brought together experts to discuss the role of nomadic traditions in the XXI century.
Venues: Kazanat Hippodrome, Argymak Archery Range, Ice Palace, Martial Arts Palace, and Ethno-Aiyl.
At the closing ceremony in Kazakhstan, the right to host the next World Nomad Games was handed over to Kyrgyzstan — the founding country of this large project. This tradition shows continuity and respect for the origins while keeping the global scale of the Games.
