Tayak Tartysh (stick pulling) is a traditional sport of the Yakut people and is closely related to ancient folk games involving the pulling of various objects such as sticks, whips, leather straps, boards, spears, or ropes.<\/p>\n
Similar traditional contests have existed among many peoples of the world. Examples include Mas Tardyhyy among the Yakuts, Tayaq Tartysh among the Kyrgyz, A\u011fa\u00e7 G\u00fcre\u015fi among the Turkish people, and Stick Pull in the English-speaking world.<\/p>\n
In Mas-Wrestling, competitors sit facing one another with their feet braced against a wooden board placed upright between them.
